Hello, I’m Emily. I’m a fifth year medical student and have been coming to Eden for just over a year.

Since I was small I went to our local Catholic church with my mother and am grateful that I was brought up with Christian values, knowing about God. Then when I came to university I made some Christian friends who gave me a Bible, did the Alpha course with me and patiently answered all my many questions. Over the three months of the course I learnt about God’s amazing gift of grace. It was very humbling to come to know a God who just accepts us for the sinful people we are and even loves us so much that he sent his son to die for us and his Holy Spirit so that we might live in a relationship with him.

Then from talking to friends and people from Eden and from reading the Bible I have understood the importance of Baptism as an act of obedience to God and a way of showing our acceptance of him not just as a part of our lives but as someone to give our whole lives to and in whom we can trust completely.

Thank you very much to the friends and family who have come tonight. It means a lot to me that you are here.
